What you get
The Holiday Inn Atlanta Northlake by IHG lists the things a three star hotel is expected to have. Rooms come with air conditioning, a desk, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee setup, a TV, a hairdryer, an iron and board, a safe, towels and toiletries, and a sofa bed in some. The hotel runs a restaurant, a bar, an outdoor pool and a fitness center, and there is free wifi, free car parking, a business center, a banquet room, laundry service, luggage storage, a 24 hour front desk and express check in. Rooms are non smoking, and pets are allowed. Where the list is thin is anything beyond the standard: no kitchen, no shuttle, no airport transfer, no spa, no concierge, no room service named.
For a driver, the Holiday Inn Atlanta Northlake does what it says. You park for free, you check in quickly, you eat on site, and you swim or use the gym without leaving the property. That suits a contractor working around Greater Atlanta, a family breaking a long drive, or anyone with an early start and a car. It suits a short stay, not a long one. It does not suit anyone planning to see the city on foot or by rail: the property sits off the loop, away from the Decatur, Blue/Green line, and the area is built around cars. If you want Atlanta at your door, book elsewhere. If you want a reliable bed, parking and a pool, this is the one.

Where it puts you
These hotels are not in Decatur. They sit in the wider metro, outside the 24 neighbourhoods this site covers, and Decatur is only the nearest of them. Treat that as the shape of the stay: you are based in greater Atlanta, not on the loop, and you should expect to travel for the things the loop is famous for. Decatur itself is its own small city six miles out, with a square, a rail station and the best restaurants-per-capita in Georgia, and the Blue/Green lines stop there, so it is reachable rather than next door.
For the BeltLine, look to the trail: these addresses sit off the loop, at the far end of the mile markings this site uses, and getting onto it means a deliberate trip rather than a stroll out of the lobby. Choose these hotels if you want the metro and its edges, not if you want to wake up inside the city the site is about.
