Rooms come with air conditioning, bathrobes, toiletries, towels, a safe, desk, coffee, TV and wifi, and the hotel lists wheelchair accessible rooms, family rooms and pets allowed. Where the list runs thin is transport: parking is listed, but nothing about a shuttle or an airport transfer, so you arrange your own way in.
For a four star Downtown address, the W Atlanta Downtown is built around the evening as much as the desk. The nightclub, bars and pool bar mean noise is part of the building, and the spa, pool and gym mean you can fill a day without leaving it. It suits a business traveller on expenses, a group going out, or anyone who wants the centre of Downtown rather than a quiet suburb. It does not suit light sleepers, families wanting early nights, or anyone who wants a plain, low key hotel. Five Points, all lines, is the rail label, and the trail label is 0.8 mi.

Where it puts you
You are staying Downtown, inside the loop, where the train at Five Points puts every line in the city within reach. That is the point of the location: you can move around Atlanta without a car, and the rest of the trip is built on that. The site's own line on the neighbourhood is blunt about the trade: the cheapest walk to a train in the city, with convention traffic setting the price, so a Tuesday in January is a different hotel than a Tuesday in October.
The BeltLine trail is also here, and the 0.8 mi to trail is the figure to keep in mind if you plan to walk or run it. This suits anyone whose trip runs on transit and convention schedules. It does not suit a holiday built around quiet streets and long, slow mornings.

Book this one directly if you want the nightclub and the pool on the same bill, and check which floor your room is on before you commit.
