The kitchen has a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator and toaster, and there is a washing machine plus laundry service. You get air conditioning, a fan, free wifi, a desk, a TV and a safe. Outside there is a garden, patio, terrace and picnic area. The list is thin on things a hotel would supply: there is no restaurant, no gym and no room service.
What that adds up to at 3BR Bungalow by Oakhurst Decatur is a house you run yourself, not a serviced stay. The games room and badminton give children something to do on a wet afternoon, and the kitchen means you are not tied to eating out. It suits families, groups of friends and anyone staying more than a couple of days. It does not suit a solo traveller wanting company, or anyone who expects a concierge. Where it puts you
Decatur is its own small city six miles out, with a square, a rail station and the best restaurants-per-capita in Georgia. That rail station is on the Blue and Green lines, so you can reach the rest of the system without driving and without a transfer at a downtown hub. The square, the station and the surrounding streets are the walkable part, and they hold most of what you would come here for.
This is off the loop, so the BeltLine trail is not on your doorstep; the trail label reads off the loop. Suits anyone who wants a self-contained town with a rail link and a real restaurant scene. Does not suit anyone who wants to step out onto the BeltLine or be in central Atlanta.
