Rooms come with air conditioning, desk, safe, iron and board, hairdryer, toiletries, towels, bath, shower, WC, TV, telephone, coffee and alarm clock. Food and drink covers a restaurant, bars, a bar or snack cafe, breakfast, special diets and banquet space. The list is thin on grounds, views and open-air space: nothing suggests a pool, a garden or a terrace, and anyone expecting a resort should look elsewhere. Pets are allowed, family rooms and cots exist, and wheelchair accessible rooms and lifts are listed.
What that adds up to is a working building beside the airport rather than a place to spend a week. AC Hotel by Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway suits someone with an early departure, a late arrival, a layover, or a meeting near the terminals, and it suits a family needing cots and family rooms for one functional stop. The gymnasium, the business center and the 24 hour front desk assume you are passing through and need to keep working while you do. It does not suit a holiday built around the city: College Park is its own small centre, and the pleasures here are convenience ones. It also does not suit anyone who wants open air and green space around the hotel, because the listed facilities do not promise any. Come for the airport, and come for a short stay.

Where it puts you
These hotels sit in College Park, on the airport side of town, and the rail connection is the reason to be here. Airport, Red/Gold is the line you want: it puts you on the same system that runs through the centre, so you can reach Five Points without a car, and the site's own verdict on the area is blunt enough to quote: the cheapest bed in metro Atlanta and sixteen minutes by train to Five Points. Right for an early flight, wrong for a holiday.
The BeltLine side is different. College Park is off the loop, which means the trail is not on your doorstep and this is not a neighbourhood you pick for walking the city. What is walkable here is ordinary: you stay close to the station, you eat nearby, you sleep. Book it if you have a plane to catch or you want the lowest bed cost in the metro. Do not book it if you came to Atlanta for the BeltLine.
