What you get
SpringHill Suites by Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway is a three star property on Convention Center Concourse in College Park. The list is built around the airport: a 24 hour front desk, express check in, luggage storage, a shuttle service and parking. Rooms are non smoking and carpeted, with air conditioning, a desk, a safe, an iron and board, a hairdryer, toiletries, a bath or shower, a WC and an alarm clock, plus a microwave and refrigerator. Elsewhere there is free wifi, a business center with copy facilities, a fitness center, a lounge, a market, laundry and dry cleaning service, a banquet room and lifts.
What that adds up to is a place organised around a flight rather than a holiday. SpringHill Suites by Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway gives you a bed, a desk and the facilities to wash and dry clothes, print a document, buy something from the market and keep food cold. It does not give you the city. College Park is its own small centre, 1.2 km from the centre of College Park, and that is the whole of its setting here. Book it if you have a plane to catch and want the airport side of town, not if you came to see Atlanta.

Where it puts you
These hotels sit in College Park, on the airport side of town, and the rail connection is the reason to be here. Airport, Red/Gold is the line you want: it puts you on the same system that runs through the centre, so you can reach Five Points without a car, and the site's own verdict on the area is blunt enough to quote: the cheapest bed in metro Atlanta and sixteen minutes by train to Five Points. Right for an early flight, wrong for a holiday.
The BeltLine side is different. College Park is off the loop, which means the trail is not on your doorstep and this is not a neighbourhood you pick for walking the city. What is walkable here is ordinary: you stay close to the station, you eat nearby, you sleep. Book it if you have a plane to catch or you want the lowest bed cost in the metro. Do not book it if you came to Atlanta for the BeltLine.
