What you get
Violet Fizz lists a full set of rooms: air conditioning, a private bathroom, non smoking rooms, towels, a hairdryer, an iron and board, a desk, a TV, free wifi and internet access. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, oven, refrigerator and toaster, with coffee provided. There is also free car parking, a washing machine, and pets are allowed. Smoke detector and first aid are noted. The list is thin on the things a staffed hotel would add: no reception, no bar, no gym, no breakfast service and no housekeeping on call.
What that adds up to is a self contained flat rather than a hotel stay. You let yourself in, cook when you want, wash your clothes, park the car without a charge, and bring the dog. Violet Fizz suits someone staying a few days or longer in Cabbagetown who wants a kitchen and a washing machine, and it suits a household that travels with a pet. It does not suit anyone who wants a lobby, a manned desk, a daily clean or a restaurant downstairs, and if that is the trip, look elsewhere.

Cabbagetown is on the southeast side of the city, a pocket of mill cottages painted every colour, the Krog Street tunnel at one end and Carroll Street at the other. The site notes the stock is small, so book early. If you are staying here, you are on the BeltLine at mile 3.7, and the trail is at the door, which means you step out and start walking rather than finding your way to a trailhead. Inman Park is a 15 min walk for rail connections.
This suits you if you want a small, walkable neighbourhood with the trail and the tunnel as your anchors, and if you like the idea of a place where the housing stock is tight and the streets are short. It does not suit you if you want a hotel district with a lobby bar and a taxi rank, or if you would rather not walk to reach the train.
