Downtown Mile 0.0 · Inside the loop The cheapest walk to a train in the city. Convention traffic sets the price, so a Tuesday in January is a different hotel than a Tuesday in October. Quiet after dark in a way that suits some travellers and not others. King Memorial · Blue/Green 0.4 mi to trail Typically $127 Old Fourth Ward Mile 2.1 · East Ponce City Market, the skate park and the best stretch of the Eastside Trail. The most expensive comfortable choice on the east side. Inman Park · Blue Trail at the door Typically $156 Cabbagetown Mile 3.7 · Southeast Mill cottages painted every colour, the Krog Street tunnel at one end and Carroll Street at the other. Newer rooms, lower rates than Inman Park, the same short walk to the trail crowd. Inman Park · Blue Trail at the door Typically $131 Grant Park Mile 5.4 · Southeast The zoo, the Cyclorama and the best Sunday farmers market in the city. Families end up here and stay put. King Memorial · 20 min 0.6 mi to trail Typically $126 Summerhill Mile 6.2 · South Rebuilt around the old stadium site. New rooms, real bakeries, and a twenty-minute walk into downtown. Georgia State · Blue 0.9 mi to trail Typically $121 Peoplestown Mile 7.0 · South Cheap, residential, improving fast along the Southside Trail. You will want a bike or a car for evenings. No rail · bus 1.1 mi to trail Typically $109 Adair Park Mile 8.4 · Southwest The Lee + White breweries and the new Southside Trail run past the back of it. Best value walk to a train and a beer. West End · Red/Gold Trail at the door Typically $104 Castleberry Hill Mile 9.6 · Southwest Brick warehouses, galleries, and the stadiums ten minutes away on foot. Dead quiet on a non-event night. Midtown · Red/Gold 0.4 mi to trail Typically $142 Piedmont Park Mile 18.3 · Northeast The most expensive mile on the loop. You are paying for two hundred acres of grass and the skyline behind it. Almost no hotels — mostly short-let rooms, so book well ahead. In Atlanta the same room swings with the convention calendar and the football schedule far more than it does between neighbourhoods, so price your own dates before you decide on an address.
